Competencies

I strongly believe that a Pastor’s role is not limited to preaching and evangelism; rather, it encompasses various dimensions, such as teaching, research, and training. In my pastoral ministry, I have always given great importance to teaching, as I believe it is crucial to guide and inspire individuals towards new directions in their personal and professional lives. As a trainer, youth leader, musician, and choir master, I have imparted valuable lessons on leadership concepts, inspiring numerous individuals to pursue similar professions.

One of my most significant achievements has been inspiring young people who had lost hope and encouraging them to pursue education and become successful professionals. I have also dedicated myself to helping socio-economically disadvantaged individuals who were unable to defend themselves. As Voltaire once said, “I did a little good, and that is my greatest work.”

During my doctoral program in business administration at the University of Montemorelos, I gained a deep understanding of the importance of scientific research. I developed a thesis on the factors influencing member retention in the Texas conference churches where I work. The study focused on leadership, culture, church programs, and evangelism as independent variables, and the analysis of the data collected revealed that retention significantly depends on these factors. Although my work is not perfect, I am grateful that it can serve as a research guide to address this critical problem in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and other institutions struggling to retain their members.

Similarly, my integration into the doctoral program in education made me realize the significance of research skills in undergraduate and postgraduate educational institutions. These institutions aim to instill research skills in their students and emphasize the statistical aspects of research. However, despite their efforts, some students may exhibit a negative attitude towards research. Nevertheless, research skills are essential requirements in post-graduate courses and institutions, and it is crucial to foster an appreciation for research among students.
